GRADING POLICY
--Classwork** = 60% of overall grade
(Composition Book: Daily Dispatches, Cornell Notes, Essaysetc.)
--Quizzes/Tests = 20% of overall grade
--Homework** = 20% of overall grade
(Vocabulary Squares)
**LATE WORK is accepted, but with a 20% "LATE FEE"
Classroom Procedures & Routines
1.) Please wait quietly and patiently outside, until Mr. Alvarez allows you to enter the classroom.
2.) Be in your assigned seat and begin to work on warm-up assignment (Daily Dispatch) as soon as the bell rings.
3.) Make sure to write the proper heading on all your written assignments.
4.) Raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking out.
5.) Remain in your seat and do not wander around the classroom.
6.) Follow the “Six Good Listening Habits” when Mr. Alvarez or anyone is speaking/addressing the class.
7.) Take care of all your personal business before or after class, during nutrition, and/or lunch. (Restroom, eating, drinking water, office, cell phone & technology use, etc.)
8.) HELP KEEP THE CLASSROOM & CAMPUS CLEAN!
9.) Do not write/tag on school desks, books, walls, or anything that does not explicitly belong to you.
10.) Remember the teacher dismisses you not the bell.
11.) You are responsible for making up any & all assignment missed because of a tardy or absence.
12.) An organized, neat, and complete composition book is critical for you to be successful in this class.
13.) All assignments that are turned-in must be clean, neat, and organized.
14.) Follow the writing guidelines to write academically proper sentences and paragraphs.
15.) Whenever an adult staff member walks into our classroom (Principal, Counselor, Lead Teacher, Teacher’s Assistant, etc.)the entire class will greet the visitor.
16.) Respect Mr. Alvarez’s space, personal belongings, and office.
17.) VOCABULARY SQUARES will be your bi-weekly homework.
18.) We will not have “free-time” in class. If and when you have finished your assignment, work on your VOCABULARY SQUARES, make-up missing assignments, and/or read silently.
